SUNDANCE AMY TAN
Words, books, sounds, video, commercials, shorts, docs and films.
Sundance seems like last year, but there they were Janet Yang and Amy Tan. 2021.
Entrances and Exits.
Like the previous post on growing older. Three months is a long time ; a financial quarter, a life time to some and another covid 19 day for a lot of us. One has to adapt, be born again, create, or retire.
Amy said she wanted to restrict her public image, after all she has been around for a while. When her great book was converted into a film decades ago, Ming Na Wen was very young, now Ming plays the MILD ones in the Mandalorian and in the Marvel world (MCU).
Amy Tan is operating on another level, the director of her documentary Robert Redford’s son died. While she did this promotional Sundance interview, and she has two books listed on her web site. It appeared she was into the zone.
It wasn’t covid 19 but, death it appeared had haunted her as we continue on since March of 2020. Or may be it was my zoom perception of the situation, then and now.
When the author of Lonesome Dove recently passed. I was shocked again as if in a time warp. I felt lost in these three months, work, zoom conferences, sick for a few days; was it covid 19, or the stress of of taking the vaccine? I reevaluated my priorities.
After this covid 19 year it was clear to me, especially in these last three months I created a pattern, retire or keep going. Or not. I decided to keep going, because the words, keep flowing as long as I force myself to move the keys to type.
So as I enter the world of words again and prepare for an exit. I wonder, next year Sundance will not be zoomed, change is something I’ll have to continue to adapt to. (Tribeca and the 2021 Oscars are in person) in 2021.
Ciao
