Public Relations and the Bad

As I stated in a previous article Part 2 continues my discussion of public relations and the need for the writer to create, buzz, spin etc. Either for free or through paid advertising. Which takes us to the BAD within Season 3 of West World.
I had to stop watching by disk two. As noted in a prior post in the free world of the Internet, you have too many things to contend with. Especially in a post Paris Hilton, Kym Kardashian PR world.
NANO SECOND NEWS —–
If you follow Zoe on Instagram. You know what I’m talking about in the next sentence. So, skip ahead.
Zoe Kravitz- She got married, she celebrated an anniversary. Oops she filed for divorce.
When you should be concerned with A. X-men B. Season 3 of Big Little Lies and THE BATMAN (Cat woman)
So, when you present a long form television show, anything over 22 minutes sans commercial’s, you better have a great PR program with your great television show (The Sopranos, Game of Thrones etc.) Because as I stated in part one, if your director gets upset, the PR can be negative or positive for your studio. And if the film or television program is not “great” it might lose lots of money (COVID-19 or no COVID-19)
In the previous piece we covered the ugly in Cyberpunk 2077, (visuals don’t substitute for a story and proper programing ala Tenet.)
Here we focus on Westworld. Season 3 I didn’t understand the show in the first season, was it a western, were they robots, it took awhile to understand the constant repetition but the story line had a perfect ending.
The public relations worked, twitter was alive, reddit etc.
Season 2made it even better so much so that when a beloved character was about to be killed, I had to stop the DVD player.
But then we come to the bad. By this time everyone had watched the season 3 of the series, I caught it on DVD and well I’m still stuck on the second disk. You get what you get as said in the good and wonderful characters in Watchmen Season one.
As I stated in a previous article, the PUBLIC, has its viewpoints which is different then well the viewpoint of the actors, but tainted by the viewpoints of a face book post. How bad could season three be?
I love Thandie Newton and Tessa Thompson. How could their character arch be destroyed by season three? In season one and two we wanted their characters to keep on kicking ass, keep on living and well make it to the space ship portion of Westworld. Unfortunately, we got Bernard played by the great Jeffrey Wright. Is he really human and advanced android, these psychotic dream sequences make you long for season one’s western loops?
PUBLIC RELATIONS
In season 2 of Westworld, you learned that some of your favorite characters might be androids/robots.
But in season 3, well, these alleged humans may or may not be a live, or be something else. Returnees are well what you might think they are, or maybe they are something else. You don’t really know by disk two. A figment of your imagination, not explained or something similar to West World Season 1.
You really don’t know and you the viewer, the critics, the artists should know who or what is going on by disk two-episode six of an eight-part series.
IMDB gave it an 8.7. Which is a great score. Rotten Tomatoes at 73 percent out of 67 “Professional Reviews”.
But when you do a google search and the people also ask section comes back with this.
“Is Westworld Season 3 Any Good”
Forbes magazine The 6 Biggest Problems with Season 3 of West World.
You have a PR problem.
Reddit had tag lines such as “Why Was Westworld Season 3 dumbed – down so brutally?
You have a PR problem with what some consider great or mediocre, dependent on how much you love your characters.
Which takes me to the good, which I will follow up on in part three of this mission on PR
In the interim, look at these photos.
Public Relations can be generated by advertising.
I tried it again for Character Within the Screenplay the Expanded Sci Fi Edition (2020)
The numbers look good, but the sales, only my continued efforts at public relations will tell that tale.
Meanwhile in an example of all three the good, the bad and ugly of PR.
This site was promoted on the today show as a reseller of items. That you bid on.

- It was free PR to millions of viewers of a morning talk/news entertainment show.
- I was interested enough to try it. I mean amazon cannot be the be all and end all of our lives. Right?
- The UGLY….

Maybe next month, if I remember I’ll try again albeit in the millions of estimated clicks ( like on Instagram, like Paris and Kym)
Until next time.
