Unfinished things and PR

There are many ways to obtain publicity. The free kind (you tube, twitter or Instagram, the paid kind. (face book or traditional radio TV Cable, Internet advertising)
I prefer the free kind, but unless you are a Paris Hilton or Kym Kardashian with a projected image or tape, you might have to resort to the Lilly Singh method the hard way.
A friend recently suggested to me that I start a you tube channel. I have tried that. But video creation, the script, the edit, the recording the edit etc. is well time consuming.
It takes away from the blog posts, marketing past books and writing, plotting etc. of a new legal thriller novella. This time I promised it will be a novella not a novel. But as many of my characters have said promises, promises.
Most PR work should be organic, i.e. Paris Hilton or Kym. It should lead to a TV show, a brand some money and well an EMPIRE.
Lilly Singh accomplished that from Canada. So, what can you do if you want to market? Me, limited on time I have tried the paid way.
But there is the Paris and Kym way, sans nudity etc.
- You have to give the people something they want to look at.
- On Instagram, you have men and women taking it almost off. Sex sales, so does nudity.
- But if you have a day job, well you cannot go down that route.
- Which leads us to Tik Tok, I guess you could dance with your books to Megan the Stallions’ number one song on Tik Tok.
Which takes us back to the o videos and photos approach, I usually use sky, air trees and nature, well because unless it’s on some private land someone might send a cease-and-desist letter etc.
As I stated above podcasting and video casting take time away from your blogging and writing time.
Which takes us to the good the bad, the badder and the ugly.
Let’s start with the ugly way of Public Relations.
A. Tenet
B. Cyber punk
Tenet- first the director insisted this movie be released to theaters. Tom Cruise loved the indoor movie experience, most of the world, like me declined that option. Thus, I bought it on DVD. With all the pre pre pre publicity, the cover of Entertainment Weekly etc. It should have been a great PR moment.
- The director of the misunderstood Inception and the creator of a great Batman Trilogy turned on his masters when they decided to do dual releases, steaming and movie theaters on OTHER PEOPLES PROJECTS.
- The Tenet film itself is either admired or hated. It reminds me of the Night Manager, a trapped woman, a spy and a kid from the plutonium pit.
- It took me four tries to get past the ten-minute mark by the half way point I was prepared to give up again.
- It wasn’t the acting; Jr. has the same voice and mannerisms of his father in his gangster roles.
- It wasn’t the editing or music which is similar to Inception and the Batman trilogy
The Ugly comes in the form of the script the paper cut characters that are not introduced enough, and serve as a backdrop to the WHY of the story. Which no PR campaign can salvage.
Who is Tenet?
How is he interacting
Y the characters have no purpose except to stop WW3, a plutonium exchange to stop a tiger?
The director’s bad PR move, was the total undoing of the film for me. Biting Warner Brother’s hand.
Ouch.
On to Cyber Punk 2077
I gave it a one in an amazon review.
By the time I finished this post, well the game finally crashed on me. Been awhile since that happened. This was with the most updated version 1.06. The music is great, the graphics so so, the glitches are like finding a Willy Wonka ticket, lots and lots of opportunities, but you never know where you might find a glitch. It’s entertaining.
Keanu Reeves is interesting in this sort of Johnny Mnemonic meets the Matrix moment. But even his moments cannot save this wannabe sci-fi game, the WHY is never met on any level.
You never know WHO your character is.
How they intend to interact with other characters or the story line, and plot.
The Y is never met
That’s the ugly, the sort of bad will be covered in the convoluted season 3 of West World.
Stay Tuned
It’s ugly PR stems from the fact that the game was delayed for several months, earned over 80 million in sales, got pulled from the Sony PlayStation store. It was patched, earned a share holders law suit, and then well, sort of disappeared.
The music soundtrack is rad, radical or great. Delicate Weapon by Grimes and Wizzy Lizzy. is the best song and best moment of the game. Perhaps they should have created a You Tube video version of the song.
Until part two
Ciao.
