Halle Berry once hearted a tweeted response once. So I owe her no ill will. Maybe just a little since I cannot get her to play an older Beth in my book Siolam a Black Bart Western. Instead she optioned a book about a young white boxer and turned it into a vehicle she could produce, direct and star in. Choices choices, Now as a author, screenwriter playwright etc. I know we all face choices, to quote a line from a video game, only one of me.

And time well catches up with all of us. Which brings me to Halle Berry who is now a MILD

Mothers I would love to date. But that will never happen, one fan boy. I don’t have 120 million and two I’m probably not her type. So which takes me back to her choices of film and remember I am not HATING.

  1. Monster’s Ball gained her an Oscar win the one and only for a black actress.

Most folks declined that role Angela Basett etc. Angela did her thing with Lady Gaga, so I guess there is a paradox there ( really).

  1. Halle went on to do Cat Woman ( I like it) some sci- film with Tom Hanks and of course this upcoming Moon thing.
  2. I give Halle credit, first she is still acting sans twenty years later. Most actresses have been done in by #METOO, career choices, misogyny, ethnicity ( or life in general, just the facts).
  3. The younger generation has learned faster, Jennifer Lawrence fell down at the Oscars and still has to contend with that. She backed down got married and sort of chilled.
  4. Halle meanwhile keeps plugging away. PRODUCER ( tv/film) Director ( one down) and actress since 1980 something.

Which takes us to.

COVID 19

Like most indentured servant contractors we are obligated with our contracts.

A. For example a sample actor’s contract. There is a book on entertainment law that stretches for volumes with the various contracts each entertainment division utilizes. But for now.

B. And despite covid 19 actors like writers are required to continue their contractual obligations and fly on a plane, take a train, zoom it out or drive to their next acting job.

80 million plus two

Halle Berry has 80 million plus two kids. So I understand why she met us online via some zoom at the 2021 TIFF festival. I expected her to be dressed to the nines like on Facebook and Instagram. Instead she appeared to have on light make up, some African or Indian top and she was on a couch. The lighting was not too great. So I concluded that:

A. Halle is human after all.

B. Halle is an artist.

C. Halle chose to be a director.

D. Halle was contractually obligated to TIFF.

E. All of the above.

She after all has a history of being bold, like Scarlet Johansson Jost ( Lucy, etc.) and Jennifer Lawrence ( The Hunger Games, X- Men and Passengers).

While these films were not a 2001 ( maybe the Hunger games part 1) They did continue the trend of actors exploring different characters in the science fiction arena.

Which brings me to my book. I’m still trying to finish the proofreading of the proof copy.

Slowed down by those other things that pay the rent.

But with 80 million plus two kids why is Halle in Montreal, going through quarantine?

I mean she did not appear ( as I know) in person for her 19 million dollars optioned boxing film.

Contracts, artistic expression, zoomed out, only Halle can ask that question.

So, the name of that movie is called Moon Fall. The title alone, predicts a B or C grade in advance of it’s streaming or straight to DVD release. But who am I just a writer. And as we know, writers don’t get any creed in Hollywood or any where else. Further more we can not predict the future. So good luck with that project.
